Scoring format – Stableford points on double peoria format over 18 holes
The Peoria System is a 1-day handicapping system for tournaments in which most of the golfers do not have
real handicap indexes.
How does the double peoria handicap system works?
- During the event briefing, twelve hidden holes are taken out by the Porsche India representative in
front of all the golfers. These holes nos. will be disclosed to the golfers post their round only where
their scores on these twelve hidden holes are added.
- How does the Double Peoria handicap system works?
- This twelve-hole aggregate is then multiplied by one and half times (1.5).
- The par for the course (72, as in case of DLF Golf Course and Country Club) is then subtracted from this
number.
- This result is then multiplied by 80% and rounded off.
- This is the Peoria handicap allowance to be used to calculate the individual stableford points.
- Example: John Doe is playing the tournament.
- During the briefing, the following hole nos. are selected as the hidden holes (not disclosed to the
players at the time) – 1,3,5,7,8,9,11,12, 13,15,17,18.
- After the round, John comes back with the following scores of 3,4,5,7,6,5,3,4,6,5,3 and 4 on the above
twelve hidden holes selected.
- The sum of these twelve holes is 55 (3+4+5+7+6+5+3+4+6+5+3+4 =55).
- This is multiplied by 1.5 i.e. one and half times of 55 is 82.5.
- Par for the course is 72 and subtracting this from 82.5 is 10.5.
80% of 10.5 is 8.4.
- So John's Double Peoria One-day Handicap for the tournament only is 8.4.
Scoring on stableford points
The scoring in Stableford competitions is made by points awarded in relation to a fixed score (gross or net par) at each hole as indicated below:
More than one over par or no score returned: 0
- One over par: 1 pt
- Equal to Par: 2 pts
- 1 under par (Birdie) : 3 pts
- 2 under par (Eagle): 4 pts
- 3 under par (Albatross): 5 pts
The higher the points the better the score of the golfers.
When calculating the Double Peoria handicap, the maximum strokes allowed per hole will be as follows:
- Par 3: Maximum Stroke Allowance – 5
- Par 4: Maximum Stroke Allowance – 7
- Par 5: Maximum Stroke Allowance – 9
Awards and prizes:
During the regional rounds, golfers will be divided into the following categories:
- Gross scores on original handicap
- Handicap category 0 to 8
- Handicap category 9 to 16
- Handicap category 17 and above
In the event of a tie, the better net score of handicap holes 1-18 in that order will decide the winner. The selection of holes takes place in accordance with the course's handicap holes with the most difficult hole followed by the second most difficult hole, etc. If there is still a tie, the winner will be decided by a monster putt challenge.
